Happy Birthday Liza Minelli! (March 12)
You might assume that the daughter of a girl who followed the yellow brick road and traveled “over the rainbow” would have a brilliant life full of awe and wonder, but movies rarely reflect real life. Liza Minelli’s life hasn’t always been a cabaret, but she’s well-known for her performance in the stage musical Cabaret. She’s performed several major feats in her life, including the winning of entertainment’s four highest awards--the Oscar, the Tony, The Emmy, and the Grammy. Not only that, but she and her mother were the first mother-daughter couple to each win an Oscar. Ms. Minelli. “Liza One-Note” is a hilarious song created by Forbidden Broadway, parodying Liza’s famous feat of holding out one particular note in many songs that she sings. She’s an icon in Hollywood, a reminiscent reminder of classic Hollywood, and we applaud her for that.
